LNER B1 CLASS

Unlike Gresley, his successor to the post of CME to the LNER Edward Thompson adopted a more austere and economic locomotive policy. Much has been documented about this, but the most popular design of his tenure surely has to be this, the mixed traffic B1 class 4-6-0. After completing his finest model, the LNER A4 pacific, model engineer Paul Beeby turned his attention to building this engine based upon the well know design from Martin Evans – called “Roedeer”. Constructed in a similar high quality, he was sadly never able to steam this engine. Since its arrival at LMR, the engine will undergo commissioning works to finish the paintwork, compete the tender and braking systems.
